Pain - The Science of Suffering by Patrick Wall. Phoenix 2000. This is an interesting book from a scientific point of view. Before his recent death, Patrick Wall was one of the major researchers in the area of pain for over forty years and a leading authority on the subject.

 

Chronic Pain: The Complete Guide to Relief

Chronic Pain: The Complete Guide to Relief by Arthur C Klein. Constable 2001. This is an excellent book based on a survey of 1,000 people who had devised methods to deal with chronic pain syndrome. It includes lots of good practical advice including some very simple physical exercises.

 

Finding a Joyful Life in the Heart of Pain
Finding a Joyful Life in the Heart of Pain by Darlene Cohen. Shambala 2000. A meditative approach to living with physical, emotional or spiritual suffering. Darlene Cohen has used Buddhist meditation to cope with pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

 

Coping Successfully with Pain
Coping Successfully with Pain by Neville Shone. Sheldon Press 2002. A helpful guide written by Neville Shone who has lived with chronic pain for many years.
